Hello, First let me say I love your website! You have helped me with difficult experiences that I could not explain. I have been searching for answers for years. Your website has made it clear to me that what I found and called unexplained is experienced by other people and for that I am relieved. Cathy K.

I am very impressed at your web site and easy it is to navigate. My family and I belong to a local Ghost haunter’s society here in Washington County . I am amazed at some of your fantastic photos you have taken from sites all over esp. your own house. We did the same and come to find out we had over twelve Orbs just floating about. I does not bother us that we some form of spirit in our house. If you are ever in Washington County , there are a lot of haunted places to visit, esp. past battles fields from the Civil war era. Jim

Hi my name is Drella, I am 16 years old. I really love your site! I just wanted to comment on the images other people have sent in. The mist images look more like cigarette smoke to me than anything supernatural. I watch a show called 'Most Haunted' and they show orbs just like the ones in your photographs. It is quite interesting. I have sort of a medium ability and am able to sense where someone alive or dead might be standing, what he/she looks like and also have premonitions of things to come. Its good to see a site out there that holds these real images. Thanks, Drella

In ghost photos "Around the House" # 6, to the right of the photo, near the house, about an inch above the drain pipe, it looks like there is a skull floating there. Also, in #4 of the same section, it looks like there is a bluish face staring out the window, and I believe that it might also be wearing glasses. P.S.- I love your photos! sincerely, Celia & Hillary

I once visited Crain House years ago before it was abandoned. Then it was under the supervision of a caretaker. The house was steeped in history and most of the ghost stories came from the fact that there was a graveyard in the backyard. No kidding! The grave markers are long gone but I know the graves are still there. The surviving family members who were related to the elderly woman who had owned the house were in conflict over ownership. Once the caretaker had been relieved of duty the house fell into disrepair and had become the target of vandalism and robbery. There had been two or three fires. The last of which totally destroyed the house. The first two were rumored to be insurance fraud. Back in 1987 a friend and I used to venture over there once in a while (we were teenagers then). We were too foolhardy to care about the dangers (and there were plenty even then). I remember a couple of times we camped out inside over night. I had strange dreams one time and decided to stop adventuring there. My friend continued to roam there until he heard about the body of a woman being found. Then he was weirded out cause he was in the upstairs of that house getting high a week before! I can tell you more about the house if you would like, but my mother would know more and, of course, I have to talk to her and find out the name of the family who had owned the house and all. PETGRIM4 --- Petgrim I would love to hear more about the Smith Stoll House when you get a chance. Rane

Covered bridge in Baltimore Maryland. This Bowstring and Howe Truss Bridge was built between 1850 and 1860 and is located on Jericho Road on the Harford/Baltimore County Line in Maryland, and during the time period of slavery, slaves were hung from the rafters inside the bridge. Stories have been told that if you go to the bridge at night and park your car under the bridge and turn your car off, you are able to hear the feet of slaves tapping on you roof. People have also seen little slave children fishing late at night together at the river below, and then disappear. Brian S

Hi Rane, Just to let you know that the famous graveyard photo you have on your site with the hooded figure was taken in a churchyard local to me in Prestbury, Cheltenham, England. I think it's a fake myself as it does look a little too good to be true and I it was an unusual angle to take the photo, looking away from the church. Hope this is of some use. Trystan

I've finally found some people in the Maryland area into ghost-hunting. Took me years. My name is Alexandra, and I've lived in Anne Arundel County, MD my entire life. I've been into ghosts, the occult and the supernatural since I was... um... does 9 months old count? Anyway, my best friend and I frequent a few haunted places, and were wondering if you were up to taking on new members. If not, it would be extremely cool to go with you and your group some night. We are both 21 and both hardcore believers in ghosts. Hell, I live in a haunted house, and so does she. Kinda hard not to believe when it's there every day. I'd love to hear back from you. We love your site. Sincerely, ~Alexandra Johnson

I really enjoyed your website. My coworkers and I love to read and look at the unexplainable pictures on your site. Thank you for sharing them with us. We are both nurses and love to look at things in a more "practical sense". Although neither of us has ever had any encounters, we know there is more out there than meets the eye! Thanks, Audrie K - RN

Hi. Thought you'd be interested in this one... A bar in Baltimore City called "Charm City". The bar is reputedly haunted by a woman that was buried in the basement. I shoot pool league at this bar & you can definitely feel a presence, although not a malevolent one. Why not try to contact the owner, for more information? I first read about the haunting in a Baltimore magazine 2 years ago around Halloween. Happy Hunting! Michelle W

Hey, under the ghost pics and under the Mount Zion tab...there's the picture with the rock and you said it looks like there's a man pointing. I also vaguely noticed that near the right edge of the rock near the bottom there are whitened areas that look like the underside of a nose and lips, as if there is a man's head tilted up..but with just the nose and lips. Kind of freaky. can you see it? DoveX008

The photo of the Borly Rectory is of the creator of a very good ghost site. It’s supposedly not his hands around his neck. He said that he and his father have been followed all their lives. it also said when he was out side of his house in Hawaii he herd a voice right in his ear I don't know what the web site is called but it is very good. Mitchell. PS Great web site!

Great site! Just wanted to add a correction, the person murdered and found in the basement was a man. He was murdered in the Brooklyn Park area in 89' and later dumped in the basement. I only know because my mother and a police officer found him while searching for me as a teen. Crain House was a popular hang out for teens in the area and I spent many of my days and evenings there with friends. Keep up the great work! susanne

I have always been somewhat skeptical about ghosts and spirits making appearances around us. However...I have seen and felt enough weird things to not just simply ignore it either. In the photo of the little girl with all of the "faces" around her, That bright "Thing" looks like another face in the crowd. Actually, it Looks almost like a costume mask itself. Think of the mask in "Phantom of the Opera". You can clearly see a forehead, nose and cheek and possibly a chin just below that. The eye sockets are empty as well as the mouth area. Very creepy in any event. Andrew S.

The picture with the devil and naked person I was wondering if you saw the evil looking face in the bottom left hand corner. It is right above the man dressed in the white suit. It is red and only half of a face. Let me know if you see it to. CYA Stephanie L

Hi, i wanted to give you information on todds farm. i read the info that you have and i hate to tell you but some of it is wrong. I went to sparrows point high school and the teacher that lived there was my friends uncle. what really happened to him was this: she bought the house and was remodeling it. durring this he was repainting. he failed to get the paint tested and got lead poisoning. he was in his 60's and was doing really bad because of it. he was really sick for a long time. he hung himself due to his illness. he left a note. i just wanted to clear it up. thanks. Hi. I thought you may like to know that under the 'Famous Photos' section you have a picture by T. O'Rahilly of a town hall at Shropshire. It was actually the town hall in WEM (which is in the county of Shropshire). A county is the UK's version of a state. Sorry if you know this already! I've seen the town hall many times, and it's still not restored - just boarded up. It is actually a bit creepy there! Sarah

PS. That picture of the hooded figure in the car window is so scary!

Dear Rane, Me and my friend were just checking out your site and we were very inpressed (not to mention totally freaked out) but we have to ask, don't you get scared? While taking these pictures, how could you stick around to get so many. "This lady is crazy." was what my friend said when she saw your pictures. And I have to agree with her. If I saw even anything close to what was in your pictures, I would run and never looked back. Do you get scared?
Sincerely, Meg and Britt

Hi Just looking at your shots of the Manor. 'The last photo of the trees which looks so eerie is really beautiful too.

The photo of the lady looking through the window has really spooked me - out of all the other photos I have seen on your site so far.

Do I see what you have seen? Her eyes appear red to me and the feeling I get - yes all the way here in Port Macquarie, Australia is really scary.

Anyway thought I would write and let you know my thoughts. Have had some scary "benevolent visitations"in my time and my brother told me how he once saw a darker figure in the the sheer darkness come for him when he was a little boy. After that episode he used have terrifying dreams. He got over the dreams but for the rest of his life he had - I guess what you would call paranormal experiences. Thanks for reading my letter. Hello,
Lets say that the article in the Maryland Gazette caught my interest. I'm a local fire photographer from Anne Arundel County. Not too long ago on a cold, rainy fall day I ran a fatal pedestrian struck at this intersection where the Crain house is located. I will analyze the photo and check for orbs etc. I felt weird at this scene, could have been just me but I remember it all just stuck with me for the rest of the night.

Also, I'd like to know more about your organization? This work cant be much pay if any? However, I'm sure the fun and excitement replaces that immensely! By: Justin S.

Hello! I read the article about you in the gazette, like the others who are now flocking to your website! How is it that the gazette interviewed you? if I may ask. When I tell people the things that I see, they think I’m nuts, so I usually keep it to myself. I have been obsessed with the paranormal since I was a child. Reading absolutely anything I can! I'm constantly online looking for stuff. A favorite website of mine is ghoststudy, have you been there. It is very informative. Anyway, this is going to be a strange question, I’m not sure if you get this often. But I have been searching for others like myself. Would it ever be possible to join you on these hunts? Or even trading information and stories would be wonderful! I live close by in Linthicum. As a matter of fact, I have two ghosts in this house. I’m still trying to figure out who they are. I am sure that one is a woman named Mary that used to live here. The other, I am not 100% sure about. I’ve had some interesting pictures show on my camera lately. Lots and lots of orb pictures. Some of them I know are genuine. However some of them, I think are from the camera. I have learned that digital cameras often cause the appearance of them in low light surroundings. Sometimes dust and moisture can show up too. That web page has a gentleman that explains how to tell the difference. I’ve been trying to look up every resource I can to see if these pics are real or not. I’ve come to the conclusion that I have two definite. Anyway, before I bore you, I wanted to commend you on your search and your website, and also to ask for a possibility in joining in some way. So whenever you get a chance, just give me an email back. Thanks, Laura C.

Hi Rane,
I came across your site yesterday; I must say it’s wonderful. It’s good to know that there is someone out there who takes the time to create such a great site with the focal point being Maryland. I am a bit of an amateur ghost hunter myself, my cousin and used to go on these hunts quite often. Unfortunately we never took along cameras, recording devices, or any kind of other instruments the serious hunters bring. We just used our senses. I can say that I have never seen a ghost of any kind. I have seen “things”, but I was never sure enough to say with any kind of certainty that what I saw was a ghost. I can say that I have had “bad feelings” about places, or sensed we perhaps had an uninvited guest along on one of our hunts. I really found it interesting that you went on a hunt in Harpers Ferry. I’ve been up there several times in fact. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it I guess) we never had any kind of experience up there that I can say was unusual. To be honest, I was more afraid of getting in trouble with the cops up there than I was of any kind of supernatural being. Our best chance probably would have been the night we walked up to the old church up there. It was around 11pm and someone had forgotten to lock the door so we walked in. It was so dark in there you couldn’t see a thing. We didn’t go in very far for fear of either getting caught or tripping over something and killing ourselves. There was nothing about the place that I felt was strange. The rumor has it that a priest haunts that old church; he must have decided to take the night off that night. I hope to go up there again soon, this time armed with a video camera and a tape recorder to see what I can find. I would however like to share with you the one and only time I was on a hunt and felt truly uneasy and afraid. There is an old plantation house in Charles County, MD that sits high upon a hill over looking the Potomac River, I’m not sure of the exact location, I’ll have to ask my cousin. Anyways, the house sits well of the main road, in fact it’s a bit of a walk to get back there, but I remember the moment I set eyes on the place that night I got this very uneasy feeling. We took a look at the house and saw nothing unusual, so we decided to walk on down the little path towards the bottom of the hill. As we reached the bottom we noticed that there was an old shell of what used to be a house off in the distance. My cousin told me that he had been to this plantation many years ago on a school field trip once, and remembered someone saying that the ruins of that house used to be where the slaves were kept. As we drew closer to it, both of us got this overwhelming sense of dread and uneasiness. We stopped about 100 feet away from it and decided to turn back. It was almost as if something was giving us a warning to “stay away”. By this point both of us were pretty freaked out, but we decided on the way back up the hill to stop and visit the tiny little cemetery that was on the grounds. The strangest thing happened there, our fears suddenly left and we felt at ease almost a sense of calmness, you could almost say we felt protected there. We rested there for a bit and made our way back up the hill and headed home.

I have other stories people have shared with me over the years of their own encounters. - Point Lookout- The Haunted Brick, and a few other stories to tell from my cousin’s aunt who lives nearby. - Catholic University- I’ve heard several stories about a couple of the buildings there. - New Carrolton- My uncle lived in a house that was haunted by the ghost of a boxer’s daughter. - New Carrolton- Another uncle of mine lived in a house there and the family had several strange encounters. - Baltimore- Grace and St.Peter’s Church- My dad used to work with the choir up there years ago, several of the choir members had some eerie stories to tell. - Near Roanoke, Va- Purgatory Mountain- several stories of the ghosts of old hermits that haunt the mountain.

Those are just a few of the stories and experiences others have shared with me. If you’re interested I’ll be happy to elaborate on them. Once again, I enjoy your site very much. I look to start back to ghost hunting this fall when the weather cools off a bit. Sorry if I was a bit long winded, but seeing your site with a focus on Maryland inspired me to share some of these things with you. BY: Jonathan

MM,
My name is Karoyne and I live in Glen Burnie. I have always been interested in ghosts and haunted areas. I love having the bejesus scared out of me! I also dabble with Wicca. I don't belong to any groups or anything, I just do my own thing. Anyway, long story short, I would love to go exploring with you. I also have a friend who is very sensitive, much more so than me, who I may be able to get out as well. If you are planning an outing, please email me. I may even be able to convince my mother in law to let us explore her house. They have had many odd occurances at their home in Gambrills. By: Karolyne

I was surfing your site while i was watching a movie on my computer (working 3rd shift in a hotel alll alone) and all of a sudden, I heard some whispering that sounded like a little kid. I could hear it over my movie but i couldn't make out what was being said. It scared me so bad that my teeth started hurting! I've never been that scared before. I didn't know that strong of fear could make teeth hurt. But i investigated it when i heard the whispering again and realized it was coming from your site!! "I see dead people!" was what the child was whispering. Needless to say, it scared the shit right out of me!!!! I almost got up and left! By: C. H.
