Shadow Stalkers Ghost Hunt
Crain House

This site may take a few moments to download there are quite a few photo's to come through to this dimension.

This house has been abandoned since I was a kid and there are many ghost stories to go with it. Like one is about an elderly women that owned the house a long time ago, legend has it that she always kept the kitchen light on so when the new owners moved in after her death it was said that every time they would turn out the light in the kitchen, it would be turned back on. I seem to remember when the house was occupied that every time we drove by it the kitchen light WAS on. Also many years later after it had been abandoned there was a women that was murdered and stashed in the basement of the building. Crain House has caught on fire several time, the last time was in the fall of 2000. Vivian and I tried to get inside but it was too dangerous to even risk killing ourselves.

Out of all the photo's we took this one is the most interesting one because of what looks like a angled cross above the roof. We
went back to check and see if it could have been a street light but it wasn't. It could not have been the house is three stories high. Copyrighted by: Vicki S. (Vivian)

This is a photo that I took. If you look closely you can just make out what looks to be a shadow with a hat and a long coat on. It also looks like it has some thing in it's hand. But whatever it is it is standing on no floor because the floor was burned down in one of the fires. I tried to outline it so you get the general idea of where it is. Unfortunately you can not see it as good on here as you can see it on the real photo. These photos are Copyrighted by: Rane

Copyright by Rane. These photos were taken right after the Crain House was razed, after the whole place was cleared of all the wood, brush and trees. I went on a whim looking for the cemetery that I was told that was on the land, and I found it in the back of the lot. There was only the grave of Sarah Smith wife of Jeffery Smith Died 1865. The little statue of the girl on the bench was there for a while because it's leg was broken and it looked a little worst for wear. I also think I remember that there was a babies name on the stone as well too, my sister and I thought maybe Sarah died in child birth but it was so long ago that I took the pic that I cant remember for sure now. Every time I drive by the land where the house was I wonder what will become of Sarah's grave if no one remebers that it is there. I hate to think that they'll build over her.

Copyright by Rane. Another shot of inside the house before it was torn down.

Copyright by Frances. Our second visit to the Crain house consisted of Rane, Frances, Nicole, and Wayne. I had read in the paper that the house was scheduled to be torn down by the state, so we made a special trip to get more photos before it was gone. Needless to say this is months later and the house is still standing. Frances and I got some orbs this time but I was disappointed that I did not get more. I was hoping too.

Emails about these Photos:

Hello, I don’t know where to start regarding your pictures of Crain House. I lived in the house from 1976 until 1984. My father died in 83. In one of the pictures that says “it almost looks like he has his hair combed back like Elvis”, that is how my father wore his hair. Thank you,Donna S

Face in your picture...

Okay the one you made the outline of - the shadow with the hat, if you look at the first picture in that series of three pics, and look directly above the top of where the shadow ends, you will see the yellow/orange profile of a man looking at a 45 degree angle down and to the right. It almost looks like he's got his hair combed back like Elvis. Look closely - I’d say in the pic I’m looking at the entire head is about a quarter inch long. I mean it's just like POW once you see it, I mean that's all I can look at now. I got to say, y'all are much braver than I! By: moffwc0

You just brought back a lot of memories...

actually I had Mrs. Stolls daughter or granddaughter as a teacher as a young kid. I am now 40..i spent the night in this house a long time ago, when Mrs. Stoll was still living there. I lived in the community of rippling ridge which was across from the house from 1969 until 1983..the history of the house does go back to the slave era, there was another 2 houses in the back of the main house, one was a smoke house and the other was the slave quarters. The graves in the yard of the house are supposed to be some of the slaves from what I was told...I actually walked the property last year and walked over to the remains of the foundation and it brought back so many memories, but now its just old and trashy, I could not even find the graves because of the tall overgrown grass and bushes, I will go back when it gets cold and all the grass is dead. I can honestly say I miss that great landmark and I never thought it would be tore down, please keep me informed on any other information...by the way but this may be ironic but now I live in Pasadena across from George fox middle school and this school is also haunted. I also have a grave yard in Baltimore to tell you about that my great grandfather was a care taker of, if you are interested....thanks Dirk M.

crain house - My grandfather was a painter and he once told me that he was painting a room upstairs in the house. He opened the window to let air in and went outside to take a break. When he looked up the window was shut and nobody was in there. He refused to go back there because he had heard it was haunted. I am sure this happened in the 1940's or 1950's. He didnt like to talk about it. Kim T

OK, SO I ACCIDENLTY CAM ACROSS YOUR WEBSITE, AND I AM SO GLAD THAT I DID! I LOVE IT. BUT. I WAS LOOKING AT PICS 3,4, & 5 OF THE SHADOWED MAN, AND IF LOOK JUST BELOW HIS ARM YOU WILL SEE WHAT APPEARS TO BE ANOTHER FACE. IT ALMOST LOOKS LIKE THE THING IN THE SHADOWED MANS HAND IS CONNECTED TO THE OTHER MAN. IF YOULOOK JUST BELOW THE OTHER FACE YOU WILL SEE WHAT LOOKS LIKE HIS LEG. ALMOST AS IF THE SHADOWED MAN HAS HIS TIED UP AND IS HOLDING THE ROPE. ITS AMAZING, I HOPE YOU CAN SEE IT. BRANDY
